The Honeymoon Finder
Three questions, a minute of your time and a shortlist you'll both love
When are you going?
What's your vibe? (pick any)
What can you spend a night?
Where should we go? It's the question that launches a thousand late-night conversations. It's harder than it sounds when one of you dreams of an overwater bungalow and the other imagines a snowy cabin under the northern lights. The Honeymoon Finder is designed to cut through the noise.
Answer three quick questions about when you're traveling, the kind of trip you want and roughly what you'd like to spend per night. The Finder then matches you with destinations from our guides that are typically at their best in your month and offer the style of stay you're after. It takes about a minute and you can run it as many times as you like.
How the Finder Works
Behind the scenes, the Finder draws on the same research that powers our destination and month guides. Every destination we cover has a seasonal profile showing which months are typically best, which are good shoulder months and which tend to bring rain, storms, heat or seasonal closures. Every retreat is tagged by stay type and price tier.
When you answer the questions, the Finder looks for destinations that are in season for your month, have stays matching your preferred vibe and fall within your budget. It then ranks the matches so the strongest fits appear first. It's a starting point for conversation, not a final verdict. We encourage you to explore the guides behind each suggestion.
Question One: When Are You Traveling?
Timing is the single biggest factor in whether a destination feels special or merely fine. The same island can be sunny and calm in one month and wet and windy in another. Choose the month you plan to travel and the Finder will prioritize places that are typically at their best then.
If your dates aren't fixed yet, try a few different months. You may discover that shifting your trip by a few weeks opens up a dream destination, such as French Polynesia from roughly May to October or the Maldives from roughly December to April.
Question Two: What's Your Vibe?
Do you want to do nothing at all, beautifully? Or are you the couple who wants sunrise hikes and snorkel trips before lunch? The Finder lets you choose the mood that fits you best, from beach and lagoon escapes to adventure and wildlife, snow and northern lights, food and wine, or culture and calm.
These vibes map to the stay types in our collections. A lagoon lover might be pointed toward Overwater Bungalows in Bora Bora or the Maldives, while an adventurous pair might see safari lodges in the Serengeti, treehouses in Swedish Lapland or volcano-view retreats near Arenal.
Question Three: What's Your Budget?
The final question uses the same price tiers you'll see throughout the site: $$$ for roughly $300 to $700 per night; $$$$ for roughly $700 to $1,500; $$$$$ for roughly $1,500 or more. These are approximate starting rates for an entry-level room. Real prices vary with dates, room type and taxes.
Your budget matters beyond the room rate, too. Long-haul destinations may involve pricier flights, seaplane transfers or meal plans, while closer options like Mexico, the Caribbean or US road trips often leave more room in the budget for upgrades and experiences.
What to Do With Your Results
Once you have a shortlist, open the destination guides for the places that spark a reaction. Read about the best time to go, how to get there and the retreats we recommend in each spot. Compare a couple of properties side by side, then check dates and current prices with our booking partners when you're ready. We may earn a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you.
FAQ
Is the Honeymoon Finder free?
Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up and no email required. Run it as many times as you like with different months, moods and budgets to see how your options change.
How accurate are the results?
The Finder relies on typical seasonal patterns and our own research into each destination and retreat. Weather can always surprise and prices change constantly, so treat the results as a well-informed shortlist and check details in our guides and with booking partners.
What if the two of us want completely different things?
Run the Finder twice, once for each of you, then look for overlap. Many destinations deliver more than one vibe. Some couples split their trip between two places, such as a safari followed by a beach or mountains followed by a city.
Why doesn't my favorite destination appear?
Either it isn't typically at its best in the month you chose, or we haven't covered it yet. Try a neighboring month, or browse our full list of destinations by region. We add new places as we research them.
