Casa de Uco Vineyards & Wine Resort is the Uco Valley stay for couples who want a working winery, a lagoon and the Andes all in one view, at a lower price than the region's top-end villa resorts. It sits on Ruta 94 in Tunuyán, on the road to Manzano Histórico, about 85 km south of Mendoza city. Rooms and suites look out over the vineyards, the mountains or the estate's lagoon.

The resort makes its own wine from grapes grown on the property, with labels such as Flora & Fauna Malbec and El Salvaje, an organic line. It also has a restaurant built around Uco Valley produce, a wine bar and cellar, a pool, a spa and tennis courts, plus a quincho for traditional asado.

It suits couples who want a calm, scenic base for winery lunches and long evenings with a bottle of the house Malbec. Accommodation ranges from Cordón del Plata rooms to Laguna Suites, Master Suites and villas. Couples who want a celebrity-chef restaurant on site should look at The Vines Resort & Spa nearby.

Highlights at a glance

  • Its own winery making Flora & Fauna and El Salvaje wines
  • Rooms and suites facing a lagoon, vineyards or the Andes
  • Pool, spa and tennis courts
  • Quincho for traditional Argentine asado
  • On the road to Manzano Histórico in the Uco Valley

Why Couples Choose Casa de Uco

The lagoon is what sets it apart. Most Uco Valley stays look over rows of vines toward the mountains. Here you also have still water reflecting the Andes, which gives the evenings a calm, almost alpine feel.

The second draw is the winery. Being able to walk from your room to the cellar, taste wines made from the vines outside and then drink them with dinner makes the place feel rooted in its land rather than simply set in it.

The resort is also well placed for exploring. It sits on the road toward Manzano Histórico, with mountain walks close by, while many of the Uco Valley's most celebrated wineries are a short drive away. You get a quiet base without feeling cut off.

Rooms and Suites to Book

Accommodation types are Cordón del Plata rooms, Laguna Suites, Master Suites, One Bedroom Villas and Two Bedroom Villas. There are also private residences on the estate.

For a honeymoon, the Laguna Suite is the natural choice, with the lagoon and the mountains in front of you. A Master Suite gives you more space if you plan to spend afternoons in your room. The One Bedroom Villa adds privacy and room to spread out, useful on a longer stay.

The resort describes its rooms as private and comfortable, with views of the Uco Valley. Ask when booking which rooms have the clearest view of both water and mountains and whether your room faces sunrise or sunset over the peaks.

Food, Drink and the Spa

The restaurant focuses on regional cooking built around Uco Valley ingredients, matched with the estate's own wines. A long lunch on the terrace, with the vines and mountains in view, is the classic Mendoza experience without leaving the property.

The wine bar and cellar are the place for tastings. Try the Flora & Fauna Malbec and the El Salvaje range, including the organic version and ask about a winery visit to see how the wines are made.

In the evening, the quincho is used for asado, the Argentine barbecue cooked slowly over wood and coals. Ask whether one is scheduled during your stay.

The spa offers treatments for an afternoon off from tastings and the pool is a welcome stop on hot summer days.

Things to Do

Use the resort as a base for the Uco Valley's wineries, which include some of the most striking modern cellars in South America. Many serve multi-course pairing lunches. Plan one big lunch a day at most and book ahead.

On the estate, take a winery tour, play tennis, swim and spend an evening by the lagoon with a bottle of wine. Nearby, Manzano Histórico has walks in the foothills and a mountain landscape quite different from the vineyards.

For a full day out, drive the road toward Aconcagua through the high Andes, or stop at the Cacheuta hot springs on the way back to Mendoza. Horseback riding in the foothills is a popular half day across the valley.

Getting There

Mendoza El Plumerillo Airport (MDZ) has frequent flights from Buenos Aires, around an hour and 45 minutes from Aeroparque (AEP), as well as connections via Santiago in Chile. Casa de Uco is about 85 km south of Mendoza city, so allow roughly 90 minutes to two hours from the airport.

The resort can help arrange transfers. A rental car gives you freedom, but winery days involve a lot of tasting, so hiring a driver for those days is the safer and more relaxing choice.

Many couples combine a few nights in the Uco Valley with a stay in Luján de Cuyo, closer to the city and the airport, to see both sides of Mendoza wine country.

Is It Worth It?

Casa de Uco sits below the Uco Valley's most expensive villa resorts in price. Expect roughly $450 or more a night for two in a suite, depending on category and season. This is an estimate, so check current rates with the resort.

It offers strong value for couples who want a winery, a lagoon, a pool and a spa in one place. The setting is the main event and the estate's own wines add something many hotels in the region cannot.

Pick elsewhere if you want a famous chef's restaurant on site or the most polished villa experience; The Vines Resort & Spa is the splurge option nearby. Couples who want to visit many wineries in Luján de Cuyo should base themselves closer to the city.

Good to Know

The best months are spring, from October to December and autumn, from March to May, when harvest brings the valley to life and the leaves turn gold. Summer is hot by day but cool at night. Winter is cold and clear, with snow on the peaks.

The Uco Valley sits at more than 1,000 meters above sea level. The sun is strong, so bring sunscreen and a hat and drink water between tastings.

The resort welcomes families and its villas and residences attract some groups, though the setting is generally quiet. Pack a warm layer for evenings, even in summer and smart casual clothing for dinner.

Insider tips

  1. Book a Laguna Suite for the classic view over water and mountains.
  2. Ask for a winery tour and tasting on your first afternoon.
  3. Check whether an asado is planned at the quincho during your stay.
  4. Limit yourselves to one long winery lunch a day so you can enjoy the evenings.
