Injidup Spa Retreat is the Margaret River stay for couples who want a private villa, a plunge pool and the ocean in front of them. It is a kid-free retreat of just ten villas on the coast near Yallingup, at the northern end of the wine region. Each villa has panoramic views over the Indian Ocean, a fireplace in the living room and its own heated plunge pool on the deck.
There is no restaurant. That is part of the appeal. A breakfast hamper of local produce waits in your villa when you arrive, enough for two mornings. After that, you can book a private chef for a three-course dinner, order a grazing platter or a barbecue hamper or take a short drive to some of the region's best wineries. The on-site day spa covers massages, facials and an infrared sauna.
It suits couples who want privacy, a self-contained base and the freedom to plan their own wine and beach days. It suits less well if you want a full-service hotel with a bar, room service and dinner on site. Guests must be 18 or over.
Highlights at a glance

Why Couples Love Injidup
The combination of view and privacy is rare in Margaret River. Most of the region's romantic stays sit among vineyards or forest. Injidup faces the sea, so you watch the swell roll in from a heated pool with a glass of local Chardonnay while the sun drops into the Indian Ocean.
With ten villas, there is no lobby crowd or poolside competition. Reception is open during the day, onsite managers handle anything urgent at night and otherwise you are left alone.
The location works for both partners. Surfers and swimmers have Injidup's breaks and beaches nearby. Wine lovers are a short drive from Wills Domain, Vasse Felix, Cullen and Voyager Estate. The coastal track along the cape is right there for walkers. The day spa is a stroll from your door for the less active days.
Villas to Book
There are three villa types, all with ocean views, a fireplace, a kitchenette and a private deck with a barbecue.
- The Honeymoon Villa has an extra-large bedroom and a free-standing bath. Book this one for a honeymoon; it runs from about AUD 880 a night off-peak to AUD 1,100 at peak (approximate).
- One Bedroom Ocean View Villas have a private heated plunge pool and the same sea outlook. They start from about AUD 695 a night off-peak and AUD 900 at peak (approximate), which is very good value for a pool villa with this view.
- Two Bedroom Ocean View Villas suit two couples traveling together.
All villas have Wi-Fi, a Nespresso machine, bathrobes, a washing machine and a Bluetooth speaker. The minimum stay is two nights, or three on long weekends.
Food, Wine and the Spa
The breakfast hamper on arrival is sourced from local producers and covers your first two mornings. The kitchenette and barbecue mean simple dinners are easy.
For a special night in, book a private chef for a three-course dinner served in your villa, or add a grazing platter. Local services such as Merchant & Maker and The Art of Grazing deliver hampers with at least 48 hours' notice.
Nights out are short drives away. Caves House Hotel in Yallingup has indoor and garden dining. The winery restaurants at Wills Domain, Vasse Felix and Voyager Estate are among the best in the region. Blue Manna Bistro in Dunsborough is a good seafood option.
The day spa offers couples massages, facials and an infrared sauna. The signature Indian Ocean Sojourn lasts two and a half hours and includes a bath overlooking the ocean. It is open daily from 9am to 5pm.
Why guests fall for it
Things to Do
Margaret River is a region to explore by car. Injidup sits at its northern end near Yallingup and Dunsborough.
Spend one day on wine. Book a driver, since tastings add up quickly and there is no Uber in the area, then work your way south along Caves Road. Vasse Felix and Cullen are classics, while Voyager Estate has formal gardens and a strong restaurant.
Spend another day on the coast. The Cape to Cape Track passes nearby for a morning walk with ocean views. Injidup's natural spa, a rock pool where waves spill over the granite, is a short drive from the villas in calm conditions. Further north, Bunker Bay and Meelup Beach have sheltered swimming. In winter and spring, humpback whales pass along the coast. Chocolate lovers can stop at Gabriel Chocolate in Yallingup.
Getting There
Busselton Margaret River Airport (BQB) is the closest airport, under an hour away by car, with direct flights from Melbourne and Sydney. Perth Airport (PER) is about three hours north by road.
The retreat does not run transfers, but it can recommend local drivers to book directly. A rental car is the easiest way to see the region; just plan a driver for winery days.
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out by 11am, with no early or late options. Reception is open from 9am to 5pm, so tell the team if you will arrive later. Phone reception can be patchy on this stretch of coast, but Wi-Fi is included.
Kangaroos are common on country roads at dawn and dusk, so drive slowly then. Ocean swimming here can be rough; swim at patrolled beaches and check conditions before entering the water.
Is It Worth It?
For couples who want a private pool villa with an ocean view at a fair price, yes. Starting rates of about AUD 695 a night for a one-bedroom villa with a heated plunge pool compare well with anything similar in Australia (approximate).
The trade-off is service. There is no restaurant, bar or room service. Reception closes at 5pm. You will drive to dinner or arrange a private chef, which suits independent couples but not those who want everything on site.
Book the Honeymoon Villa for the free-standing bath and bigger bedroom. Stay three nights or more to give yourselves one beach day, one wine day and one day doing nothing. Couples who want a full-service resort should look at the beachfront resorts around Dunsborough, while wine-focused couples may prefer a stay among the vines in the Wilyabrup area.
